In The Wilderness

In The Wilderness

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson

In The Wilderness
by Tricia Pattinson

Hard ground to break
        In this Wilderness
        Where tangled nets weave
        Against the seed of sweetness

Wilderness's uncombed hair
My back is set to work it free
        Reverse the thickets
Undo the trap where brackish stinketh

Heavy weighted by Time's own hands
        Pressing my shoulders
        Urges aware
        By seasons the Wilderness clears

With increasing Sunshine rays
        Freedom from brackish tangles saves
The sweetest of acorn has roots
The fruit of which transforms all the World
