Rugged

Rugged

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson

Rugged
by Tricia Pattinson

This rugged heart
Has climbed
And clawed
Itself free of the World

Broken itself
Again and again

Found no joy
In giving up

So jumping off
Not allowed

Mending came
With tougher soul

Walls now thicker
Than a Pharoah's tomb

A roof made by a lifetime
Of steel and diamonds
Hardened by
Growing and abutting
Dissapointments capping height

The foundation
Is hidden
Deeper than 6 feet
But not so much
As Hell could run over
Flooding it

The rugged heart
Is a temple now
Some hearts of the World
Cannot even comprehend

The bastion of icey cold
Ancient fortress
Tucked and strong

As solemn a heart
In hymn and song
You'll not find
Outside a rock
