Erosion

I woke up to this idea nagging me to end my brief hiatus from writing.

You used to outshine all the rest

Gleaming in the sunlight, blinding in your beauty

But now your luster is lacking

The sparkle is fading

Your shine outshone

You no longer dazzle

Disappearing into the darkness

Your outer layer eroded

I see you as you are

No diamond or pearl

Merely stone
