Echoes

Echoes

A Poem by Laejeon

Echoes
( To Shekina)

_

Once, you asked for my vows,
I hear them now; I hear the emptiness on this road now,
The slowly fading light and heat that hung over us

_

Once upon a time, there was no colour here,
Then there you were, so near, so dear
Before you; came the sun and drum beats for our time,

_

The sun, the moon and stars shine upon our earth
The light of God’s smile comes through you to us,
I am glad; I have had the heat of love reach my heart

_

Was a love ever given so lavishly?
Was a heart ever so chaste?
That birds should sing in its praise? That I should cry at will?

_

So with this ‘bye’ start my fears; counting these empty years,
Seeing mirages of you linger in my eyes
And the blades of grass fade to their former; grey.

_

Once, you asked for my vows,
I hear them now; I hear your whispers in the night’s notes,
And the softening thud of your heart calling… calling

_

And though now strange paths stand between,
Widening… widening still, Love sighs within,
Its echoes in our hearts and these, these beats won’t fade

_

And we, we won’t forget our shine on earth.
