Lovebird

Lovebird

A Poem by Lanmewmew

Am I a lovebird?
That can fly on its own
That can sing on its own
That can do things on its own

But in the end dies when alone
The despair and the grief
With no one to share my life
No one for me to love

A lovebird who can’t give anyone love
Just becomes an ordinary bird
The meaning in its life gone
Its purpose becoming unknown

Its mind wanders desperately looking
But with no one there
Both body, mind and soul
Just shut down, breathless, dead

Maybe a lovebird can love itself
But love cannot just be for the self
Love is to be shared with another
Such is why it is called a lovebird.
