Feeding the Pigeons

Feeding the Pigeons

A Poem by Whiskurz

He sits on the bench, day after day
Just to pass away the time
Feeding the pigeons his left over dinner
A man, well past his prime
He smiles and waves as people pass by
Like he's known them all of his life
A tragic story wrapped in loneliness
For one who's lost his wife
Thirty-eight years they were married
He's lost a piece of his heart
A woman who honered her wedding vows
Who promised, "Til death do us part"
He's not looking for companionship
For he will love her 'til the end
He wouldn't mind someone to talk to
Someone to call a friend
Time no longer has meaning
For it's just another day
So he sits on the bench, feeding the pigeons
Just to pass the time away
