Poe's Prayer

Poe's Prayer

A Poem by Whiskurz

I pray my soul will soon find peace
But my prayers are never heard
This demon's grip will not release
A prayer that's so absurd

Forgiveness is a futile quest
I send my words in vain
My sins will never be confessed
This darkness shall remain

Who am I that God denies?
He knows my every need
He chooses not to hear my cries
He will not intercede

The shadows ever call my name
I'm destined to be lost
I trade my soul for hope of fame
Though death shall be the cost

The darkness somehow hides my voice
The light refuses to show
I pray but still I have no choice
There is no hope for Poe

I like the feel of this. I first pictured Edgar Allen Poe....but I wonder if this is not you feeling the darkened emotions that EAP was so famous for.
