Paper Prayers

Paper Prayers

A Poem by Whiskurz

She's held captive by her agony
As her paper holds her prayers
The prayers she never whispers
The prayers she never shares

She writes them down, one at a time
Knowing that God will see
Never asking Him for anything
For He knows her misery

A child that's only twelve years old
Trapped in a silent abyss
She's never heard or spoken a word
It's something she doesn't miss

She knows that God can hear her thoughts
Before she even prays
But still she writes her paper prayers
For all those rainy days

This woman died at ninety years old
And in case anyone cares
When her family came to clean her house
They found twelve thousand paper prayers
