The City of Emotions

The City of Emotions

A Poem by Whiskurz

The heart is like a very small city
Where different emotions live
On the street of Second Chances
Lives the emotion we call Forgive
A little farther down the road
Lives the emotion we call Regret
He lives on the street of I'm Sorry
Just in case you forget
Then after a block or maybe two
Things really start to advance
For Love is found around the corner
Where he lives on the street of Romance
Hate and Anger both share a room
But they really don't get along
Hate can't stand to look at Anger
And Anger just screams, "You're wrong!"
Then we find the emotion of Envy
But he wants what the others have got
His next door neighbor is confusion
He lives on the street of Forgot
Then down on the street of Heartache
Lives Sadness, the one who lives on her own
For no one ever comes to see her
But she's used to being alone
Last but not least is the emotion called Joy
Who lives on Happy Street
She gets along with everyone else
And with anyone she'll ever meet
The heart is like a very small city
With our emotions living there
And for as long as the heart continues to beat
These are the ones we'll share
