Understanding

For so many years
I have traveled different paths
In Search of the one
That would lead me
To the destination
I have been so eagerly awaiting
For time which seemed to be eternity
I could not find my way to you
Yet all of a sudden
The way to my destination
Was lit up
Like an enormous white light
With anticipation
I headed toward it
And found my way
To complete understanding
And a great assurance
That I have finally found my way
Yes, I told myself
I am here
I have made it
I am not lost
With this newfound happiness
Inside of me
I told my younger self
All it took
To find the way
Was to notice the light
That was always there
Shining inside of me
This dear compass of mine
Is showing me the direction
To happiness and truth
My guide and my friend
How dearly I love you
Now I understand
That I am the path,
the light,
and the destination
