Seeping

Seeping

A Poem by Laura Kate

Times like this the hate seeps in
coming up from deep within
questioning how'd it all begin
and how to escape
from the tar I'm in

Wondering how it came to be
that life isn't what you dream
or imagined in even
the worst nightmares
myself is who I really scare
I know what I am capable of
and also of what I'm not

deep breaths, deep breaths
its a temporary slog
times change
you'll be fine
dry your eyes
have some wine

life can be good
you'll enjoy it
you'll see
you'll meet someone
you won't be lonely

and still it seeps
from within my throat
through my lungs
down to my toes

will anyone come
to take it away
or is it I and me alone
who plays this game.

Surely you are not the only one playing such games (love how your poem ends with questioning). Your poem describes how I feel in so many areas of life (others will relate, too!) I'm bipolar & when I'm riding high, I fear my rage will seep in & ruin everything. With my heart smashed many times in a long life, distrust and fear seep in to spoil each new potential. I thought I could overcome this infernal seeping, but at age 63, I'm pretty sure it's getting worse & worse! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Sylvia Plath was much like this poem...even in her happiest moments...those would so quickly be replaced by her putting herself down angrily...hate can replace love in an instant.
if we let it...it is an awful game...but somehow we have to find a way to avoid becoming involved in it.
