Love in death

Love in death

A Poem by LauraOyeghe
"

Death is the beginning of eternal life...

"

She never saw,
She never smiled,
She would never run,
Still he was hard to find.
She could never sing,
Her lips could only speak,
But she cherished one thing,
And in her heart It was at its peak.
She could never see,
But could only feel,
The ball of flames rowing into the sky.
She could never see the birds fly,
But her wings were ethereal.
She never spoke,
And never made merry,
She had no family or folk,
The thoughts of him were her family.
Her heart was her gallery.
She never cried,
In the bush path she lived,
Dreaming as her hopes died.
And to everything she had believed,
In,She could see nothing,
But a pair of broken wings,
Wounded,swollen limbs,
And a snow of shuddered feathers falling.
Her feathers were gone,
Her wings were broken,
Her days of soaring were no more,
Her sight had been taken.
And there came the sound of a gun with extended hands,
Gazing into her white blurry eyes.
In fear she moved and fell in the bowl of sands.
This time she became stiff and could not rise.
A figure of her long lost friend appears,
She shuddered in shock,
Could she now see?
Had she overcome her fears?
But this time she ran out of luck,
The figure smiled and walked away.
Time cheated and ran so fast,
Behold, her sight ends and she breathed her last.
It was a solemn promise the figure had made,
To come back and then their love would reign and never fade;
But he never lived to come as a man but a ghost,
His poor friend had waited enough,
But life is an impatient coast.
The bush path they had planned to meet,
Later becomes the path death had brought for them to be together again.
Oh, sorrow has been eaten up by the feast!
