ScreeA Poem by Gary SScree
I have heard the raptor's cry filling the dome of the sky, and looked up only to find the tops of tall trees enfolding the bird in a dark place. But this one is drifting high, a comma in open blue. The call, sharp and confident blankets the firmament as a whale's voice fills the ocean with concentric sound waves.
Red shouldered hawk, peregrine falcon, what name could give justice to this creature of the millennia its power indescribable as the sensation of a lover by one's side, a violent wind, a dive into a cold sea? Who can understand how we have ears to hear a miracle piercing everywhere through the resonant air? "Gary S. © 2024 Gary S |
