Expectations

Expectations

A Poem by Willow
"

A response to a writer's blog. She wasn't having a good day. So I wrote this poem for her. I never told her.

Expectations

Did your life turn out the way that you want?

Are you holding the hand of who loves you not?

Did you do the things of which you dreamt?

Are they tucked inside, held on preempt?

Is life spontaneous, can you go and just do?

Were you ever, are you free to twirl?

Did you let it slide and look behind

To notice the fading girl

Can you extricate the whimsy

To dance on the forest floor?

Are you locked in your adult bubble?

Oh where is Wendy’s door?

Do you dance with abandon with just a silly broom?

Have you forgot your expectations

Now hide in your stagnant cocoon

Are you free to say and tell all your thoughts?

A secret journal, for poems and jots

Life is too serious, so come with me

Outrageous and silly a raft on the sea

Let’s dance together, you and I

You are the hero and I’ll be the spy

I’ll tell you my words,

You’ll laugh and you’ll cry

Together on carpets

We’ll take to the sky
