Must We Be So Selfish?

I was listening to the Hetalia AMV for Waving Flag and thinking of 9-11, Osama, and Kony, along with the average day of Americans (and others) out there.

Must we be so selfish?
Why must there be a reward for us to get up and help someone?
Why must there be a price to hold out your hand to someone in need?
Must we be so selfish,
For there to be a reward for a finished deed?
Why can't we just help someone out because we want to?
Why can't we just shout to the world 'It isn't only about you'? 
Must we be so selfish?
Why must there be another family torn
By the plague that we call war?
Why can't we sign a treaty for world peace,
Is it because we're all just to immature to look past our history to allow the plague to cease?
Or is it just because there must be a reward for the deed,
In this search for World-Wide Harmony and World-Wide Peace?
Must we be so selfish?

Ignore grammar problems and any problems in general. I've been having some family problems and the normal stuff for me, not to mention some Poetic Writers Block for quiet a while.

I think this poem actually touches down on many things we often think about and question. "Why must we obtain something in return?" "Why can't this world be peaceful all the time?" People will have differing opinions that could answer both of those questions. Some more harsh than others. But, such is life, no? Anyway, keep on writing!
