Take me to church

Take me to church

A Poem by Lazarus DaGreat

Take me to church

(Inspired by the song of same title by Hozier)

This piece adheres to the true believers in something greater these are just by far the biased opinions of Lazarus “The Great” resurrected from the grave after four days straight an immortal soul deemed never to grow old seen the will of men weakened by atheist pens and human sins

The frail skin and feeble attempts to save their selves from utter damnation lyrical salvation has guided my pen through the dark ages with no light or hope in sight famished without proper nourishment only to regain strength by believing in him the great I Am has brought me back again just to prove a point the anointment of this is countless facing the same fears that has killed all my peers an infinite spray of tears filling oceans and rivers flowing down the rugged terrain of mountains walking aimlessly through scorching desert winds sun rays blackened skin dry cracked feet and server dehydration just a mirage of the spitting image of God carried in every man this face is the same as yours finally reaching my destination of an abandoned dilapidated church with locked doors

I continue on with all odds against me been searching for my wife all my life my untouched soul stays empty bringing life from cracked ribs and motherless kids a little too soon not worshiping the holy tabernacle but the sinful bedroom man’s been in trouble ever since Eve bit the apple don’t get me wrong I will worship your body like a temple all night long making my will strong or at least until the end of this song writing my wrongs you never know how long is too long because people change their ways everyday so I can’t stay too long I have more disciples to find within hidden gems to complete my excellent mission countless services not finding a home to finally rest putting my faith to the test this will may bend but won’t break no matter what doesn’t go my way and such it’s never too much for me to pick up a pen and restart this mission all over again

False prophets spitting true lies through soulless eyes with deceitful determination feeding greed and narcissistic intent rewriting his-story over the rainbow and the serpent sharping the knife to stab you in the back with only getting stronger with each lie every cry the forbidden sins of the new and old testaments I say this is a new day to write another book of revelations saving generations from Armageddon Lazarus from Nazareth documenting Asiatic poetics in his own tone claiming sole hire to the thrown desperately searching for his way back home and like the book of Eli I have thought long and hard about where to share these findings with readers that’s unbiased a place that will help show and grow poetry in its purest form without judgment...well...I still haven’t found it and might not ever, but I will continue to document these written scriptures with everything that I have left

until the untimely event of my demise with my very last breath
