I'll See You In My Dreams

I'll See You In My Dreams

A Poem by LeahPaige
"

i was, and still am, missing someone pretty bad.

"

As I was lying alone in bed, I began to think of you

And all the ways you’ve showed me love-

All the things you’ve helped me through.

I thought of the times you’ve made me laugh, and made my heart skip beats

Then I smiled as I closed my eyes and imagined you here with me.

It seemed so true, and felt so real...I could feel your soft, warm touch.

I heard your voice whisper gently in my ear, “I love you so much”.

I gazed into your eyes, and slowly replied with a giggle “I love you more”.

Then you smiled that crooked smile of yours…the smile that I adore.

You kissed my lips, held me close, and told me not to speak.

But suddenly my eyes flew open, as a tear ran down my cheek.

I looked around in search of you, begging you not to go.

I need you to stay here with me, I need you more than you’ll ever know.

When I finally realized you were gone and it was only just a dream

It felt as if my heart had gone and ripped straight down the seam.

I clung tight to your shirt I wore, and let out a weary breath.

Telling myself you’ll be home soon, telling myself not to fret.

So until you’re here with me again...our bodies neatly entwined

I’ll dream about you every night, your heart beating next to mine.

With that its time to say farewell, I miss and love you so…

But I know your awaiting me in my dreams, so to my dreams I now must go.

I loved your sweet poem Leah. Sappiness is a good thing and nothing to be ashamed of. So many of the poems on WritersCafe are so intentionally obscure an difficult to eek out their meaning. It is refreshing to read a piece that not only rhymes, but its meaning is clear. Keep up the good work.
