Shouldn't be

Shouldn't be

A Poem by Leandro Mendez

Automatic machinery,
children being born,
inheriting a world
we can barely control.
Education sets our world.
Consumption enslaves,
television scares.
Illusions float around,
the truth is hiding
underneath the couch.
We are free,
but attached to what
shouldn't be in our hearts.

A gasp at its poignancy. I felt it in my gut.

This rings with philosophical truth. I love the last three lines especially. Nicely penned. :)

A little piece of brilliance here, my friend. Your poem brought out the physical response in me. A really great write.
