I Can't Let You Go

I Can't Let You Go

A Poem by Leanne Conway

I remember when I was a little girl
I fell down and scrapped my knee
You took my hand and told me
That everything will be okay
Kissed my forehead softly
Washed off my cut and said go play
I remember when I was a little girl
My dog never came home to me
After two months or searching
You held me close and told me
That he's looking over you now
Where ever he may be
He'll always remember you my dear
Kissed my forehead softly
Tucked me in tigh and said go to bed
I can't let you go even after these past nine years
I can't let you go after all the hell we've gone through
I can't let you go not even to save myself
I can't let you go no matter what happens
I won't let you go
You were always there for me
Every little thing that went wrong
You picked up your magic pen
And rewrote me a new ending
One filled with joy and happiness
And now since you're no where to be found
I'm stuck in a endless loop
Wishing for a simple escape
I've been counting for so many days now
Wishing that you were still around
Then maybe I'd have a different life then this one
I don't mind the one I'm living though
I've met some pretty amazing people along the way
But I will always wish for you to come home
No matter how many times I wish for it
I know that you'll never be able too
But I can't let you go even after these past nine years
I can't let you go after all the hell we've gone through
I can't let you go not even to save myself
I can't let you go no matter what happens
I won't let you go
