It's All Okay Now

It's All Okay Now

A Poem by Leanne Conway

Running through the falling snow
Makes me think back to when I was so young
You were chasing me all through that field
I remembered when I drove in that pile
Watching the snow fall all around me
You'd tell me that when we grow older
We'll always be friends til the end
Ten years down the road and we haven't talked
I don't even remember you're favorite color anymore
I forget the sound of your voice and your laugh
What happened to lasting forever my friend
We made a promise that day in the falling snow
But we both seem to have let it break
It's still there in the distant though, we both see it
Once you looked in my eyes and we both felt it
That old childhood fantasy of happy ever afters
No heartbreaking rumors or leaving each other behind
Today I watched the snow fall once again
From the front seat of that damned car
Driving down the road wishing I was young again
Spinning around in circles once again
Laughing and making so many snow angels
Throwing snow above our heads just to watch it fall
We have parted separate ways now
But I'll always know you're there for me
Late at night when I've hit my breaking point
I'll pick up that damned phone and text you
"Hey, it's been awhile and I need my friend"
We'll talk for hours like nothings changed
Because we both know that we made a promise
All the years that have gone by without a word
It's all okay because I see you type my name
I know that the promise was never forgotten
It was just clouded with emotions and dusted with years
But my darling
It's all okay now..
