The Amphibians Came Ashore

Swimming through the swampy mirk
Of a developing land,
One little fish
Had a strange little wish.
He wanted to walk on the sand.
He put one fin forward
And another followed,
And he began to stand.

...and the amphibians came ashore!

Tossed and turned for forty nights,
Bashed about the ark.
While the carnivores
Eyed the herbivores,
The sea turned very dark.
But a branch was found
And soon was the ground
Where they would disembark.

...and Noah came ashore!

Sailing out for the shortest route
From the Spanish coast.
A brave new world,
Filled with peril,
Was sighted from the boat.
The natives were rich
And spoke in dialects.
Here they built their post.

...and Columbus came ashore!

"We have touchdown, Houston.",
Came the signal back.
"One small step..."
As he leapt
To make that first contact.
Now the dream is gone,
But the frontier goes on
And space isn’t so black.

...and Armstrong came ashore!

Hi Legion,

A brilliant poetic conception. The choice of Noah is a bit strange as the others might be thought to be more secure (at least if you believe in evolution). Meter and accent scheme wanders around a bit, but I don't know if that is a concern to you.

Best regards,

Rick
