The Field of Battle

The Field of Battle

A Poem by Legion
"

A piece for all those small battles we fight everyday. This is one of those battles.

"

The Field of Battle

A peaceful moment shattered.

His peers all but scattered.

His vindictive rage was all that mattered

As the bully was beaten and battered.

Now he stands and peruses

The land beneath, conquered.

The claimant victorious

But with costs.

Fists thrown.

Blood drawn.

Innocence lost,

He stands addled but glorious.

A fallen foe he once feared

Now cries, thus confuses

All those around

As the victor they surround.

The tyrant now taken down

On this schoolyard battleground.

Maybe the schoolyard is a rehearsal for the battle ground... who knows. For sure the victims and the assailants are in clear evidence whenever the so-called powerful try to destroy who or what is felt to be insignificant, or, in some cases in our greedy world, overly significant! Is that cynical or what!

Thank your for sharing... the final line is a great touch.

i noted crys should be cries - unless it is a name? but it seems we are preparing for war at an early age even if we don't recognize it and kids can be more cruel than terrorists i think. a nice portrayal here.

Oh, the schoolyard bully! What a great topic for a poem! How different is this than taking down the world dictator? It is not all that different! They are just slightly different beasts.
