An Epitaph For Legion

An Epitaph For Legion

"

Something darkishly humourous. Not really dead yet, but haven't been on quite as much as I would like to be.

"
An Epitaph For Legion

A multitude, devilishly divine,
Encapsulated within this basted swine
Leaves this world in their final days
Complete with a delicious pineapple glaze
And carved into morsels delectable
Spread out splendidly upon the table.
So pass those plates, fill them up,
And keep in mind, as we sup,
To tip your glass and share a toast
In memory of this succulent roast.

Makes me think of a medieval feast. The candles burning after dark in a long hall with everyone sitting around it. The first things that come to mind are Redwall and Hamlet.

Wonderful piece. I like this sort of length in a poem, it isn't too long, but leaves you satisfied in the end. I like the rhyming here--it adds well to the poem. Good work!

. haha! ... you redefine lunacy and genius with one brush stroke ... this is absolutely earth-shattering and brilliant ... how on earth did you come up with this? ... never mind ... it's un-get-over-able ... :D ...

Hmmm...it has been a while since I've reviewed any of your work, or anyone's really. But the title caught my attention. This can be taken in so many ways, I think. Each time I read it, it holds a different meaning for me. The one that stands out the most is basically how when we die, it seems as if people want to continue to carve out a slice of whatever we left behind, just as they did with us in life...and forget to celebrate the life that was lost...however timely or untimely the death. But I could be reading entirely too much into it. I really enjoyed this write, though. I like how the rhyming never feels forced. And I adore the dark humor here. Brilliantly done.

The "Eat Me" message behind this is awesome. All of sudden I'm starving though. Kudos, on this feast of words.

Beyond words with this one. I really enjoyed it...Definitely an interesting concept accurately displayed. Love the adjectives.

Ah, Legion!

Roasted pork--so sorry, my friend--could this be flying pork? And this is yet mixed delicately with the story of "Legion" in the bible. A multitude of possessors ("for we are many") that finally settle in the body of pigs (complete with a delicious pineapple sauce!). "So pass those plates, fill them up." And we will always remember this "succulent roast".

A tasty poem, my friend!

Best regards,

Rick
