ON THE SEA

ON THE SEA

A Poem by Quickbeam

Blue oceans deep,

Brown masts tall,

White sails breathe,

Grey seagulls call.

Silver fish swim,

Glittering waves crash,

Black cannons grim,

Red fiery smash.

Painted wood splinters,

Yellow flames bloat,

Scorched timber sinks,

Pale sailors float.

Multi coloured debris,

Misty smoke clears,

Crimson on the water,

Charcoaled faces cheer.

Golden coins are plenty,

Muddy rum is drunk,

All the pirates sing,

About the ship they sunk.

Quite descriptive, and the flow is quite fun. It definitely had to be reread in order to really understand what was going on for it was all told in cryptic descriptions that it wasn't until the word "pirates" came up that it became clear what the narrative was. Fantastic! Absolutely well done!
