The Ocean of Thoughts

The Ocean of Thoughts

A Poem by Lena Gray

My ocean of thoughts carry me into a life different from my own

“Beautiful” I think

Anything and everything I ever wanted right there

In my thoughts

I sit there in silence

It surrounds me like and embrace of the one you love

Visions of wonderful things take flight in my mind as if they have sprouted wings

Children playing on the playground

Young people falling in love

A mother giving birth

But the tide shifts

I feel a the tide shift

The visions in my head crash into the ground like their wings had been torn off

Thunder cracks in the distance

The blue sky turning a dangerous black

Ripples of life rock me back and forth

Children betraying each other

Young people with their heart broken

A mothers loss of her child

A wave of reality crashes into me

Drowning me, suffocating me

Ripping me away from my thoughts

“I don’t want to go” I scream

I try my best to hold on but it slips away so fast

But it takes me anyways

A wave of reality crashes into me
