Your Mood

Your Mood

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Your mood spills upon me
when my shadow darkens
the doorway.
Whenever an unhappy circumstance
clouds your vision,
you turn from Jekyll to Hyde.
I often feel that I must step aside,
just to narrowly escape poison sharpened arrows
that you glare at me.
I will not be the door matt
that you tread upon
when your mood sprouts
seemingly from a single black cloud.
I will not scamper and hide
like a scared rabbit
just because your mood
is as dark and dreary
as the black depths of a turbid ocean.
I am no church mouse
hiding in the corner,
shivering in fear
from the big, black cat
swatting with sword-like claws,
hoping to catch a meal.
I will hold my head high
stare straight into your anger-filled eyes
and say screw you!

The person being addressed in this one may have a mood disorder. Be careful. Also, spell check the names in line 6.

Great opening and closing imagery! The metaphor of the church mouse and the devilish cat fit perfectly before the final punchline. Nice poem.
