Embarrassing Time

This poem is hard to explain as I wrote it so long ago. I think I would like to leave it up to interpretation. Happily, I no longer feel like this. Maybe it will be of some comfort to others.

Swallow me up whole

Sand and Earth

Let the mud suck me down 

Into muck and grime

Take me away from this embarrassing time

I feel like a trespasser

An unwanted hang nail

Whose very presence is a constant jab

A Sliver too deep to pick out

The mood suddenly changes

And I am thrust into another's mercy

Let me escape it

Before it swallows me whole

There are times in life where embarrassing moments have made me feel exactly like this. Like walking around with the pant zipper down, which ain't that bad unless your not wearing undies. Thank you for this reminder of our most embarrassing moments in life.
