Sandwich

I feel like a sandwich 

Smashed in between two thick slices of negativity 

Made up of regret and anger

Each piece slathered with resentment

I don't much care fort these condiments

Their taste is acidic and bitter

Reminds me of some emotion 

That soured decades ago 

Way past its expiration date

I'd prefer something sweeter

With delicate undertones of positivity 

Honey flavored

Or even a fruity tinge

Gentle on the tongue

Light in my heart
