Underappreciated

Underappreciated

A Poem by LeslieNoel

I feel so underappreciated
Like the sock that has fallen under your bed
Lost without its mate
It's this feeling that I hate
I feel so underappreciated
Like a fresh bouquet of flowers
From a secret admirer
That is discarded unceremoniously
Into the trash can
Even if it was from a kind gentle man
I feel so underappreciated
Like a scullery maid who goes unseen
Cleaning, sweeping, and giving a good scrub
To the porcelain toilet and dirty tub
I feel so underappreciated like the opossum
He's called a nuisance
Even though he eats the dreaded ticks
From the garden
Has been my behavior been so bad
That I need a pardon?
With all the things that I used to be
I thought you cherished me
But, you don't see
Because I am imaginary
