A Boy Died Today

A great kid got killed from a freak accident in my neighborhood

A great kid died today.
He was doing the daily grind.
In a shop, recycling a steel barrel,
and it went pop.

Took his life and changed our lives.
His peers, his teachers, his family.
all changed by one freak accident.

Even the simplest of lessons,
Need to be repeated.
Over and over again.

Curiosity killed the cat.
Enthusiasm killed a young man.
But more will die.

Teachers will fade away.
Important lessons will not be taught.
For the lessons will be removed
From the curriculum of thought.
