you are my place

you are my place

A Poem by Leviari
"

free verse poem

"

you

are my place

not a palace, not a mansion

not a pretty cottage by the lake.

You are a tiny studio

in an old building all bricks and cement

with dying plants and obnoxious curtains.

You are my books on the shelf

You are my perfume in the cabinet

You are the fresh groceries on the counter.

You are the lock I fumble with

after a long day - as I toss my keys

and kick my shoes

I stumble to

you.

Well done, Leviari. No, there is nothing to correct with this piece. The flow is good...the subject matter a good choice and there is certainly an emotional connection. You have produced a great bit about 'home' and what it means. The place may not be elegant...fancy...or expensive...but it is home! Once through the door it is a sanctuary from all the world's issues...whether you choose to deal with them or not.

A good write.

For someone who does not use English as a first language this is pretty good. It is a great shape poem and is full to the brim with notions of love in its acceptance of the mundane.

thank you!!
i really like this....terrific metaphor for that special someone with whom we feel totally comfortable and with whom we can totally be ourselves. And with your wording, makes it hard to imagine English is NOT your first language...Flawless.

A wonderful poem. Simple places are the paradise of the heart. I enjoyed the description leading to the proper ending. Thank you Leviari for sharing the amazing and hopeful poetry.

You are welcome Leviari. I enjoyed your work today. Please send read requests.
I absolutely love this. There is a raw sensuality in the piece which transcends the cliched romanticism of beautiful palaces and shiny life. No, this seeks out the naked beauty that lies right before us and yet in the daily existence, we tend to, at times, overlook the same. Beautifully captured. Thanks for a lovely read.

Some people make you feel like you're sitting in an over sized chair. It's automatically a perfect fit and feel. Nothing to correct here. The connection was made!
