A Prayer for Love

A Prayer for Love

A Poem by Askew

Aohrodite help me
I pray to you each night
My altar is littered with rose petals and sea shells
I beg of you to teach me
Make of me you disciple
I will kneel and hang on your every word
How do I do what you do?
How do I love so freely?
Is it possible to love without pain?
Is it possible to love without dying inside?
Can I love myself?
Without doubt, without tears, can I love who I am?
Aphrodite take me under your wing
Make of me your earthly voice

Ah... Aphrodite, goddess of love.
