Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by Liakrenah

Let me tell you about a girl.

Let me tell you about a girl who was so fucked up

that she fucked up the thing she treasured the most.

A girl.

Beaten.

Assaulted.

Wounded.

Broken.

Physically, mentally, emotionally.

A girl who cowered at the first

Glimpse of freedom because it was so foreign.

A girl who didn’t understand

what to base her worth on:

Looks? Intelligence? Skills?

It took her 20 years to love

That which she was so afraid of.

But she was so overwhelmed

When he loved her back

That she ran away cowering again

Because love, the love of another,

was so foreign to her too.

She started making lists

Lists and lists of all of her flaws.

How? No, why would he love

Her if she is so flawed?

It’s a trap, she thought.

It has to be.

When one is so used to finding flaws within, the often project their flaws onto their relationships. I really love the emotion in this one. Totally relatable.
