I Challenge God To Read My Thoughts

I Challenge God To Read My Thoughts

A Poem by Liamesq

I see the marks upon my wrist
And wonder why they do exist
Your anger that you tried to hide
Rips into the skin
Blood runs down the jagged edges
Covered by some deviant pledges
That I caught it in some thorns
My arm, it tries to tell you
The blades which pierce are cold and rusty
Infection comes and scabs go crusty
Upon the sight of such disgust
You ignore my inward screaming
'I'm ungrateful' you say in muttered voice
As if I have even the slightest choice
When all I can do deep in my darkness
Is pray upon tomorrow
If I don't go too far as to sever
The strands of tissue, muscle tether
Then I'll stand the chance again, once more
To hope for absolution
In time of need you turn your head
And avert your gaze from the waiting dead
For they're not nearly worth your sight
You curse and we fall to your hand
Trudge on by without a care
Challenge your friend to talk to us as a dare
To not help those with scars on faces
That they put there only yesterday
You, my sir, have no right to call
Each of us just 'that rambling fool'
Who searches for the plain attention
Of a baying crowd
Instead, before, you'd need to taste
The life of hunger, not of haste
Not of business, wealth and joy
But of the sheer need to survive
Have you ever quit before ?
And gorged like a brutal carnivore
That walk was way too much for your knees
Whilst people out there carry on
We the poor not in richness but hope
Could afford to buy and tie a rope
But we see if anyone out there still
Has a soul inside them
Husks, ignorant husks which feed
Off easy targets and show their greed
In times of hardship they never stop
To ask us how we are
But we blend into daily life
Show no signs of our never ending strife
Because we know you have better things to do
Like bully us if convenient
If you would ask if we're okay
Maybe we'd live just one more day
As we the dead had chosen already
The lives we wanted to end
Whether that be through rope or gun
At least we got out last bit of fun
In realising the plans, they worked
Those being, how the deed was done
