Sharp Sunshine, Pitiful Purpose

Sharp Sunshine, Pitiful Purpose

A Poem by Ligeia

Please pardon me for this haughty, hasty hello.
If you yearn to know your purpose look over yonder, to yellow
Sunrises and sunsets, seagulls and the source of your orange
Existence. They remove your rainbow with a sharp, smooth syringe,
place it in a bold, blue, bruised, broken box.
They'll bind it away like the bust of a beat-up fox.

Beautiful, bendable bones, they'll crush and crunch,
Carefully, kindly carry them tightly in a bunch.
Your skin, pale, peeling, plastic, purple,
Stretches tight, taught, tempting, so I topple
In your sinuous, soft, seductive circle,
as my body begins to bend and buckle.

Your airy aura around me, like pillows.
Your mercy, your madness, soft like marshmallows.
I'm naked to your narcissism, lead into your lair,
I follow in your footsteps, deeper into despair.
I find this freedom brings fantastic fright,
I'm meant to mend it with my magnificent might.
I'll show you your solace under my shirt,
And send you the sunshine I hide under my skirt.

Author's Note

Ligeia
Bouts-Rimes, that's the form. { In case you were curious. }
Written for my Poetry class, we came up with the words together.
Needless to say, I was satisfied with the way it turned out.
{ Even if it doesn't make sense. }
