When I Was Little

Just a poem..

When I was little,

I'd look up into the stars,

And imagine that all those big bright lights,

Were loved ones, watching down over their family's,

But then you grow up, learn about science, figure out

That they were just meteors, Big chunks of Rock…

And all that imagination just drifts away..

When I was little,

All I wanted, was to be grown up,

I wanted to work, I wanted to know what high school felt like,

I wanted to experience love, But then you grow up,

And you see that Working wasn’t all that great,

You realize high school was a battle field,

And Love was a made up fantasy..

When I was little,

I always thought the people I loved would love me back,

Some people get the mom and dad version, some not even that..

When I was little,

I loved everything about the world, I thought it

Was the most magical place.. But then you grow up,

You see the Hurt, The pain, The suffering And all of that love just floats away..

When I was little,

I was HAPPY.

This describes how I feel too, as ignorance is truly bliss. As a child, so few responsibilities and cares! What a wonderful life...then we "grow up", gaining knowledge and never being able to return to that blissful state again. Thank you for sharing!
