Whispers

Whispers

A Poem by Jordan Bailey
"

Ill let you decide the meaning of the poem.

"
Most people say their father is the best
I've always said I wish he was like the rest
Making my family proud has always been the intention
But lately I havent brought about much contention
Its easy to say that i've not been perfect
Its hard to say if its all been worth it
The days roll aging like the hair on our heads
Or breaking like the scales of a butterflies wings
Loud everything seems, moving to the beat of the worlds heart
But silence echoes in the night like a piercing dart
Hitting its target fatally with ease
But leaving a mark that will last for centuries
The dart, thrown by its patriarch
Does not see its target in the webbed dark
Bound by the tugging of love and friends
But cut by those who're meant to mend
Thrashed and strangled until scorched
By the limp end of a glittering torch
That pulls up the victim with contention and hope
And whispers in his ear, My dear.

Author's Note

Jordan Bailey
The rhyme scheme is purposely broken to symbolize brokenness. The period at the end is purposely inserted at the end to keep the reader pondering the meaning of the poem.
