Morning on East Beach

Morning on East Beach

A Poem by Lisa Trossarello
"

This is a cinquain series. A cinquain is a five line poem with an exact number of syllables on each line. 2-4-6-8-2 is the pattern for the amount of syllables per line.

"

I sit
Here on the beach.
Toddlers are out of reach.
Get up! Because they don't know how
To swim.

Seagulls
Eat the Fruit Loops.
Diving open-beaked swoops.
Screeching, landing too close to the
Blanket.

Hitchcock
Comes into mind.
Thirty birds we now find
Surround our little party on
The sand.

Okay
Kids, time to go.
Lunchtime, Naptime, Oh no!
The tide is coming in and we're
Cut off.

Dragging
Over divide
Caused by fast rising tide,
Stroller, towels, three kids and their
Buckets.

Baking
In the sunshine
Car hot, kids start to whine,
Why did we think leather seats were
Cooler?

Very neat format..I didn't know what a cinquain was until now. It does have a rythm and flow as one reads it. You had you hands full with 3 little ones at the beach!

Nice work...I like it a lot.
