The Dead TreesA Poem by Color of the IrisThe once glorious world that I coexisted with
Is now blotted out by my ridiculous fears I used to look to the sun, but now it's a myth I sit alone and keep counting the years As they slowly fall behind We slowly lose our minds All sanity is being tested as I all fall apart Hanging by my only thread, I reach for something To make me better, make me well To make my heart content again But so far there's nothing around me No one left to support me Just the dead trees Silence was once golden, but now I cower from it Peace was once treasured, but it's been buried Somewhere all so far away, and I can't find it Time's ticking, the hour glass is becoming worried As the time passes by I must try to survive Trying to stand when you're bonded by chains Reaching for a drink of serenity, a drop will do fine To make me happy, make me laugh To make me free from sickness again And as I look around there's nothing around me No one left in this world to support me Just the dead trees © 2010 Color of the IrisAuthor's Note
