A Poem by Melissa Price

Untitled Freewrite 8/21/08

I am awake

The City is dying

Buildings are falling

I am alone

Trying to break free

Wanting to see

The real me through someone else's

Eyes

I just want to fly

Around the town and feel

Everything that is real

Drowning in sorrow and pain

I'll have to wait for another new day

The locals have it all wrong

That pub down the street is just too nosy for me

People talking about people

Beer bottles banging each other hard

Loud voices coming out of the bathroom stalls

How could he be sleeping with her?

He isn't all that

She's too vivacious and flirty

I wish that was me sometimes

I'd get all the men

The night is nearly over

Street lamps are waiting to go to sleep

Chattering about the crowds

Too much drama in the way

I think I will stay home tonight…
