A Child's Innocence

A Child's Innocence

A Poem by Little Abbey
"

A poem about how I was as a child. Very inquisitive.

"

Get in your black dress Abbey,

And come in here so I can do your hair.

We don't have much time until the funeral starts,

Come in here and be a good girl.

Momma? What's a funeral?

Is it like a party?

Why must I wear black?

May I bring my barbies?

Abbey, honey, you need to sit still.

Where's Grandpa, momma?

He's up there.

Up where? Did you point?

I can't see him!

Grandma? Where is Grandpa?

How come we left him at the party?

Was he wearing black too?

Was it his party?

Abbey,

You'll understand soon enough.

For now, be happy.

Dance to the rhythms of divine grace,

And may happiness be the only thing that you ever chase.
