Let Me Be

Let Me Be

A Poem by Little Abbey
"

I found this in my journal when I was reading back on my years. At the time I thought the words sucked, but looking at it with a new perspective it actually gives off a great message.

"

You've seen me up against the wall.

My hands were on my face,

And I was about to fall.

I know you stop,

And sometimes wonder who did this to me,

But you turn away.

You don't want to see me become,

The girl that I was meant to be.

Won't please grab my hands again?

Stroke my soft hair, and wipe away my pain?

You're as rare as unanswered prayers,

And as calm as the ocean's sea.

But in our world, time doesn't heal.

We need the help of our Angel's will.

There once was that time,

When you used to call yourself mine.

You'd get bent out of shape,

If they stared at me and called me awful names.

But after all their taunting and teasing

You too turned your back on me,
And ran off with them despite my pleading.

I've found someone new,
Someone to hold my heart above the world.
I've loved him for years know,
But I never even thought I could.
He's the reason I wake up everyday,
He's the one who took this pain away.
Don't look at me,
I don't want to see your sneer.
Just leave me be,
That I might be able to forever love my dear.
