Good Evening, Promises

Good Evening, Promises

A Poem by Little Birdie
"

Your name won't pass my lips.

"
I'll never write a love song for you again,
I decide early this morning.
I'll never think of you again.
Your name won't pass my lips,

nor ablaze my nerves,
nor tempt my mind.
No longer will I compare you
to the unfading sea and

the colossal sky, nor will I stare
away from the shore
thinking of you as if it will
bring you back.

The setting Sun will never confuse
my thoughts again, not even as it
bleeds its ravishing beauty over the yellow sky
will I wish for your presence.

I'll never write a love song for you again,
I decide early this morning aware of
deceitful hope that nothing today
will remind me of you.

I really really enjoy this so much more than I can say. I have written many pieces about how I am not going to waste another drop of ink on a certain someone ever again. Yet, I can't seem to help myself. Although I haven't in a few months now and it feels pretty amazing. :) Thank you so much for sharing your captivating and lovely words with me.

Ouch! Severe and damning. Such stark and emboldened images from your earlier work are turned against themselves here, making the pain that much more palpable.
I feel it all, especially the strength of your resolve.
Great work, as always.
