The rain clouds roll in,

The impending storm looms on the horizon.

The sky gets darker.

Oh how I can relate,

If only times of pain and suffering

Hadn’t made it too late.

As I am reading this a thunderstorm is rolling in from the west. Perfect timing.
You drew a nice parallel between a storm and painful emotions. I could feel the heaviness that comes with both.
