The Bible

The Bible

A Poem by Lauren..
"

A book that is rarely read and holds darkness in a closet of unsuspecting light.

"
Books are good for reading,
But is it real,
That’s a question that is puzzling,
Just like children’s books that bible has stories that are hard to believe,
Fairy tales are not real,
People lose faith in something that they can’t see,
Bad things happen all the time,
The Bible is a dusty book that collects dust if people don’t read it often,
You can’t make someone read something that they don’t believe in,
But you can send out the invitation to a friend,
They might come just to please you but at least you gave them a shot.
Is Jesus alive or just a dream that’s a question that only you can answer.

I couldn’t click on this fast enough.
The Bible becomes real to anyone who reads it prayerfully.
It becomes experiential and all those stories in it becomes part of your human experience.
I agree it’s a book; yet it’s no ordinary book.
Life is a puzzle, but in the presence of God the code is broken.
Knotty issues get unraveled.
I have been a student of the Bible from my twelfth year on earth.
I am fifty one years old now, and it’s still at the core of my human existence.
After reading it,I pray and God speaks to me.
It has been my compass in good and bad times.
My best memories are from the outcomes of my Bible reading and a relationship with God.
When I’m at a cross road
When I need to comfort or help a friend.
When I suffered from postpartum depression…
When I lost my sight after an accident…
When I was poisoned…
When I was cheated and betrayed…
When I felt insecure and suffered from imposter syndrome
When I hurt others or treat them badly intentionally or unintentionally
When I was broke
When I screwed up ( I still do)
When I became successful and comfortable
When I just couldn’t go on anymore
I could go on and on about the blessings I have gotten from the Bible over the years.
I cast no aspersions on people who don’t share my perspective.
It’s a free world…
Even God gives man the right to choose.
In conclusion, life is temperamental,
God is my safe place.

Thank you for sharing this thought provoking piece.
I enjoyed it.
Happy Holidays Lauren
