Time

Time

A Poem by Kersti Elizabeth Pinzon
"

A reflection of the shut-in lifestyle from the perspective of an outsider.

"

I see you in the window,

Your pale skin, dark eyes

Growing only blacker with time

As you wait in your room

For better days to come.

I knew you once.

You sat behind me.

You rarely spoke.

Your deep voice was fear.

You clung to your phone,

Which held more of your life

Than school or family or friendship.

Your world was a fantasy

Which drove rationality to its death.

I did not know you in those days.

I doubt anyone truly did.

You were only a game,

A card on the table,

The Joker no one wanted.

When was the last time you saw light?

When did you decide that it was no longer worth

The time we each put in?

What are you waiting for,

In your little box of soda and pixels?
