Alien

Alien

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

Ever felt like you didn’t belong?

Like, maybe, another galaxy pulses through you,

And you can feel its song.

More than a heartbeat. A rhythm, that echoes through nerves and bone;

Echoes right through the space that surrounds you,

Like a beacon for some salvation unknown.

You never know what you are looking for, but still, every day you search.

And as you wander through life, it guides you

Like a hawk on your shoulder, perched,

Perched and waiting patiently, but it isn’t waiting for prey;

It’s keeping you safe and grounded,

A reminder, that this place is not where you’re meant to stay.
