My Pride

My Pride

A Poem by Zion

You can save my pride

You can sacrifice yours to save my life

but Heaven knows you can never save my soul.

God took me up into the sky, held me long and told me "Son, everything that you have learned

that was me in the background of the moore

telling you "No more"

You have friends and family

rest your soul

I can go on and on

I'm sitting you back down to Earth"

Next thing I realize I'm back in my body

to lay my problems down

the Devil figured it out and sent his fiendish foes on my heels

ran as long as I could but I may as well have stood still

I was dragged deep in the earth

thrown into the fiery fires and into his castle up top flaming candles

but as soon as I got there

he had already started saying " Listen boy I know what your thinking

I'm a sorry son of a gun

and I'm never gonna see the shining sun

take a seat and I will explain

I was the one who lead you on that dangerous journey through the jungle

remember when that boaconstricter had you coiled up

yeah that was me

I was also the voice in your head that said

"kill that m**********r"

when things didnt work out the way you wanted them to

your to brave

to glorious

to helpful to be here with me"

so he sent me up

through the dirt

dropped outside of a cave

not knowing I would never return

you can save my pride

you can sacrifice yours to save my life

but heaven knows

oh, heaven knows

you can never save my soul.
