A Pirate

A Pirate

A Poem by S. Waldo

As I lay on my back

In the warm soft grass

I think back to a song

That I used to know

The song was of pirates

Of which I used to be

Now that I'm home

It doesn't feel right

For my heart is screaming

You should go tonight.

I don't want to leave you

Though I love being here

I have got to get back

Back to my one true love

And that is the sea

I won't ever let it go

But my ship is waiting

And I must leave tonight

Please don't forget me

I'm still your girl

I'll come back...someday

So please wait for me

But if you forget

And move on without me

There's a shadow in the fog

Waiting just for you.

His face is the devil's and you should fear

For his name is none other than that of Edward Teach.
