A Poem by Emily

4/23/18
She likes to hide her pain so she pours another drink,
It’s been almost 6 years and she still can’t go a day without a drink,
She’s broken without her husband here,
She feels lost and alone with everything we’ve been through.
I stuck by her side,
I gave up all of my friendships to stay with her,
To make sure I was there when she fell down drunk,
2 gallons of vodka a week is far from healthy for a person,
That’s why you ended up weighing 100 pounds and looking like a crackhead.
Now that I’m not sick anymore and we have the family back together you’ve slowed down a bit,
But your kids still can’t stand seeing you sitting out in the garage everyday drinking your pain away.
Let’s face it Mom, the pains not going anywhere,
We will face this pain till we die because we had an amazing man in our life.
But that amazing man would want you to live again,
He’d want you to strive in life,
So please, please stop with this drinking.
One last and final time.
